The Import Is Done. Now You Have a Pile.
You moved to Notion. The import finished. The green bar said “done.” And now you’re staring at a single database with 1,639 items, each one a note from three different apps, none of them organized. That’s the number-one reason new Notion users quit – not because the import failed, but because it succeeded.
I don’t have a formal study to back that up. What I have is hundreds of threads on r/Notion and the Notion Discord where the same pattern repeats: people import everything, close the laptop, and never touch the dump again. One user, writing under the name pianopantry, imported 1,639 notes from Evernote into a single Notion database and then described the result as “a big pile.” That’s the trap – the import gives you a sense of completion, but the real work hasn’t started.
