The State of AI in Workflow Management: From Hype to Production

The conversation around AI in enterprise workflow management has shifted decisively. According to McKinsey's 2025 State of AI report, 88% of enterprises now use AI regularly in at least one business function, up from 78% the previous year. That figure alone signals that the question is no longer "should we use AI?" but "how do we deploy it effectively at scale?"

The pace of integration is accelerating. Gartner projects that 40% of enterprise applications will integrate task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026, a dramatic leap from less than 5% in 2025. Meanwhile, 62% of organizations are already experimenting with or scaling AI agents, and 23% have moved agentic systems into production in at least one function, per McKinsey data cited by Cflow.
